Elizabeth (Liz) Jane Williams

Our Beloved Mother Elizabeth (Liz) Jane Williams was called home on Thursday, May 26, 2022 with her family around her. Liz was born January 13, 1935 in Ignacio, CO. She met the love of her life Alvis (Ray) Williams, in 1954, at Parson Drug Store in Durango, CO. Ray worked for the oilfield so they moved several times.  They finally settled down in Bloomfield, NM in 1961 with their two daughters, Ginger and Shirley.

Mom was a home maker until the girls were in school.  She worked as a cook for the elementary schools in Bloomfield.  She loved being around children so this was the perfect job for her.  She also loved making quilts and giving them away.  Most of the people she knew received a “mamacita” quilt.

Mom is preceded in death by her loving husband of 62 years, Ray, her parents, Susie and Ben Garcia, brothers, Ben, Johnny, Bill, Alex, sisters, Goomie, Delores, Pauline, Mary, son-in-law, Willie Schofield.

She is survived by her daughters, Ginger Williams-Schofield, Shirley Anderson (Jay), grandkids, Jason Anderson (Renee), Boomer Anderson (Sharla), great-grandkids, Jayden, Jaycy, Brody, Riley, many loving nieces, nephews, cousins, one brother, Lawrence, one sister, Susan. Liz loved all children and many called her grandma Liz. She will be missed.

A Memorial Service will be held at Saint Mary’s Catholic Church in Bloomfield, NM on Saturday, June 25, 2022 at 10:30 a.m. A Reception will follow at the Parish Hall.
