Ruby Thomas

Ruby Thomas of Kirtland passed away March 28, 2024. She was born February 15, 1929 to Wallace Nathaniel East and Frances Rachel Scott in Pomerene, AZ. Ruby was married to George Elvin Thomas on October 16, 1947 in the Mesa, AZ Temple. They had been married 73 years when George passed away. Ruby not only cared for her family, she worked several jobs outside the home from Bus Driver, Y&S Candies, to laundry mat overseer. Active in her faith, Ruby had many callings in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. One of her most rewarding responsibilities in the church was stake camp director for two years. She loved getting to know the girls. Ruby was an avid genealogist. She loved spending time in the Genealogical History Center. Ruby and George served a one year mission, in the Family History Center in Salt Lake City, UT. Ruby liked painting, sewing, making quilts, porcelain dolls, and other crafts. She enjoyed meeting people. 

Ruby is survived by her children: Georgia Fay (Thomas) Bigler and late Myron Bigler of Hyrum, UT, Ruby Kristine (Thomas) Robbins and Walter Fred Robbins of Las Vegas, NV, Criag Lee Thomas and Amy M. (Raymond) Thomas of La Plata, NM, Melissa (Thomas) Kovach and Jerry Kovach of Rural Valley, PA. Seventeen grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, 4 great great grandchildren.

Preceded in death by husband George Elvin Thomas, son-in-law Myron Bigler, grandson Clifton Heath Robbins, parents Wallace and Francis (Scott) East. Ruby was the last survivor of the (8) siblings. A special thanks to Hospice Tender Care Org. that took care of Ruby. Also, for her daughter Georgia Fay, and granddaughters Amber Smith and Rachel Murdock for the help in her care. There will be a graveside service at the Kirtland Cemetery on Saturday April 6, 2024 at 1:30 PM – 2:15 PM. Dedication of the Grave will be immediately after. In Lieu of flowers please donate to your local Breast Cancer Center or the local Missionary fund. Ruby’s care has been entrusted to Brewer, Lee & Larkin Funeral Home. (505) 325-8688.
