Johnny Deopoldo Maestas, 100, passed away on Sunday, June 30, 2024, in Farmington, New Mexico. He was born on May 31, 1924, in Salida, Colorado to parents Edward and Margaret Maestas. 

 Johnny is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Porfirio Maestas, Eddie Maestas, David Maestas; children, Gene Maestas, Phillip Maestas; grandchildren, Ben Benavidez. He is survived by his wife, Erlinda Maestas; children, Kenny Maestas, Trini Barela (Ben), Nessy Benavidez (Ben), Charles Montoya (Renee), Linda Gonzales (Ricardo); sibling, Ralph Maestas; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren. 

Johnny was a devoted husband to his wife for more than 50 years and a loving father. He was employed for a number of years at Stapleton Chevrolet in Salida, Colorado before moving to Farmington, New Mexico to work for El Paso Natural Gas. He retired from El Paso Natural Gas after nearly 30 years. He was an avid car enthusiast, owning over 100 classic cars during his lifetime. As a pastime, he restored and painted classic cars. Johnny was a dedicated sports fan, particularly the New York Yankees and Denver Broncos. He played baseball, bowled, and golfed competitively. He played in two Men’s Fast Pitch World Tournaments, one in Clearwater, Florida in 1957 and the other in Long Beach, California in 1960. Johnny loved to watch old movies and tv shows. He was extremely talented in various fields, from sports to cars and also as an artist.

Funeral Mass: Monday, July 8, 2024, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Sacred Heart Catholic Parish 
Burial: Monday, July 8, 2024, at 11:30 AM at Memory Gardens, Farmington, NM
