Jessie Faye Ketron

November 6, 1925 — February 12, 2024

Farmington, New Mexico

Jessie Faye Ketron, our beloved "Faye Faye", joined her heavenly father on February 12, 2024, at the extraordinary age of 98. Although her goal was to make it 100 years, we can only imagine the joy she felt as she reunited with her husband Curtis and passed loved ones. She resided in Farmington, New Mexico, at the time of her death.

Jessie Faye was born on November 6, 1925, in Aurora, Colorado, to Susan F. Rogers and Jesse D. Ketchem. The young family was originally from Arkansas, but they were in Aurora while her father was treated for tuberculosis during WWI. He succumbed to the disease when Jessie Faye was only 3 months old.

After her father's death, Jessie Faye and her mother returned to Charleston, Arkansas. Susan met and married Charley Maier, and together they had four more daughters-Betty Lou, Norma Charlene, Sophia Jane, and Mary Margaret. The family farmed on the Maier homestead on Peter Pender Lane, which would become a family legacy. Later in life, Jessie Faye often told stories of picking cotton during the Great Depression, canning colorful vegetables to keep in the cellar, helping Mama raise her sisters, and enjoying the small town celebrations. She was a graduate of Charleston High School.

In 1946, Jessie Faye had a son named Jimmy Dale. They lived on the Maier farm with her family, but around 1951, a man named Curtis Ketron came into their lives. He immediately fell in love with his beloved "Faye Faye", and the two were married. The family resided in Ozark, Arkansas. They later moved to Farmington, New Mexico, where Curtis worked for Utah Mining Company, and Jessie Faye was a homemaker. She loved helping out as a room mother at Jim's school, growing beautiful roses and irises, baking, and visiting with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Her goodbyes always included a "love you much" and lots hugs.

Jessie Faye was preceded in death by her husband Curtis, her four sisters, granddaughter Machele, and great grandson Robert. She is survived by her son Jim (wife Theresa), grandchildren (Tony & Shiloh), great grandchildren (Brandi & Kandi), great-great grandchildren (Bodie, Ethan, Lyla, Achilles, Arielle & Asher), and numerous nieces, nephews, and dear friends.

The viewing will take place at Brewer Lee & Larkin Funeral Home in Farmington, NM on Tuesday, February 20, 2024 at 10 a.m., with the funeral following at 11 a.m. A graveside service will later be held in Arkansas, at Lowes Creek Cemetery, where she will be buried.
