Geraldine Lynn Marquez McPherson

July 17, 1970 — July 11, 2018

Geraldine Marquez McPherson joined the ranks of the Angels at sunrise on Tuesday July 11, 2018. She was born on July 17, 1970 in Durango, CO. She was the 6th out of seven daughters born to Jose Eduvigen and Angie Quintana Marquez. She grew up in Arboles, CO. and attended school in Ignacio. She married her Big Hunk, Rockey McPherson on Sept. 14, 1991. They were blessed with their beautiful children Gabrielle and William. She always called them her little miracles.
She attended Ft. Lewis College for a couple of years and then worked for the Bank of Ignacio. After the children were born she dedicated herself to being a stay at home mom. The only problem was, she couldn't stay home. Ger was a servant and volunteer for the Lord. No job was too big or daunting for her. When they moved to Farmington, the first order of business was finding a home church. Then she proceeded to immerse herself in her new church, community and schools. She was every teacher's dream room mother. Most of Farmington has probably had a meal prepared by her hands either at a church function, awards dinner or during the week of Passion Play. Then of course there were her famous biscochitos the church gave out during Christmas. Her organizational skills allowed her to direct people and get things done with incredible efficiency. 200 Christmas shoe boxes, no problem. Meals for a week for 300 people, got it covered. She was truly a force to be reckoned with. With her contagious laugh and giving spirit she touched more lives then even she imagined. During this last year of her life the blessings, prayers, gifts of time, food and money overwhelmed her and many a day brought on tears of thankfulness and gratitude.
One of her daily affirmations was God is good all the time. We thank Him for our wife, mother, sister and friend. We know she is dancing with all of our loved ones in Heaven and we stand firm on God's promise that we will one day join her. She was preceded in death by her parents, paternal grandparents; Rosendo and Andreita (Casias) Marquez; maternal grandparents, Luis and Louise (Lopez) Quintana.
She is survived by her husband Rockey, children Gabrielle and William McPherson, sisters: Lou Jean (Henry) Espinosa, Mercie (Leo) Ulibarri, Eleanor (Chris) Velasquez, Edna (Monty) Giles, June Marquez, and Angelica Marquez Lucero, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. She is also survived by her Tia Carol (Emilio) Perez, Tia Katie Martinez, Tia Gloria Marquez and Tia Maima (David) Santistevan.
It wasn't enough that she has a huge family but then she was adopted by her church family, CBS ministry, and numerous people whose life she touched. Many of these friends will miss her just as deeply as her family.
The celebration of Geraldine's life will be held on her birthday, Tuesday July 17, 2018 at 10:00 am. First Baptist Church, 121 N Auburn, Farmington, NM. Reception to follow in the Fellowship hall. She always liked a good party so please join us. Her favorite things included the color purple, butterflies and sunflowers, so if you have something in your closet please wear it in her memory.
Geraldine's care is entrusted to Brewer, Lee and Larkin Funeral Home, 103 E. Ute St., in Farmington. (505)325-8688.
